Welcome to the Translational Pathology Core Laboratory (TPCL) at UCLA. TPCL is part of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Shared Facility.

Since 1996, TPCL has provided an array of pathology related services in support of basic, translational and clinical research at UCLA. Our mission is to provide high quality pathology services in an efficient and cost-effective manner. TPCL also provides expert consultation services to investigators in pathology-related study design, tissue selection, microscopic interpretation, veterinary histology, immunohistochemistry/in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection, digital image analysis (including quantitative immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence), and IRB-related tissue questions.

Digital image analysis permits quantitative immunohistochemistry for accurate counting of positively stained cells (in this case, Ki-67 positive cells in a case of lymphoma)

Prostate sample double stained for E-cadherin and Cox2

Laser capture microdissection allows precise selection of cells (in this case, the mantle zone area of a lymphoid follicle) for further molecular studies
